THE EFFECT OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE AND WORK STRESS ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE THROUGH EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION AT THE PASURUAN REGENCY COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION AGENCY
Abstract
This research investigates how work–life balance and job stress influence job satisfaction and employee performance, with job satisfaction positioned as a mediating factor within the Department of Communication and Informatics of Pasuruan Regency. Using a quantitative approach through a full-population survey of 65 employees, the data were processed through the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings reveal that maintaining a balanced work and personal life significantly enhances both satisfaction and performance levels, while stress when properly managed can also serve as a positive performance driver. Moreover, job satisfaction functions as a pivotal bridge that amplifies the indirect influence of work–life balance and job stress on performance outcomes. Overall, the study underscores the strategic necessity for organizations to foster equilibrium between professional and personal domains, implement sound stress management practices, and cultivate sustained job satisfaction to achieve superior employee performance
