DETEKSI DINI PENYAKIT LEPRA BERBASIS SISTEM PAKAR CERTAINTY FACTOR
Abstract
Leprosy is a long-standing infectious disease that continues to pose serious public health challenges due to its potential to cause permanent disability if not detected early. Limited health literacy and unequal access to medical services contribute to delayed diagnosis in several regions. This research seeks to design a web-based expert system that functions as a decision-support instrument for early-stage leprosy screening at the community level. Expert knowledge is encoded through symptom weighting using the Certainty Factor method to address uncertainty in the diagnostic process. Final diagnostic confidence is generated by aggregating the certainty values of user-selected symptoms, resulting in an indication level of the disease. System performance was evaluated by comparing the diagnostic results with expert judgments. The evaluation results show an accuracy of 86%, demonstrating that the proposed system provides reliable diagnostic support. The system is expected to assist early screening efforts and contribute to reducing leprosy-related complications and transmission. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a web-based Certainty Factor expert system optimized for early leprosy detection in communities with limited healthcare access.
