DESAIN SISTEM PENERAPAN BEHAVIORALLY ANCHORED RATING SCALE DALAM PENILAIAN SIKAP SISWA
Abstract
Attitude assessment is a crucial component of learning evaluation, but its practice often faces challenges of subjectivity and inconsistency between raters. This study applied the Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale (BARS) as a structured approach to assessing student attitudes in a more objective and measurable manner. BARS was developed by identifying specific behavioral indicators that represent each assessment level, allowing teachers to assess based on visible behavioral evidence, rather than personal perceptions. The research method used instrument development involving needs analysis, development of a behavior-based scale, expert validation, and limited pilot testing on secondary-level students. The results showed that the implementation of BARS increased the consistency of assessments between teachers, clarified the expected attitude criteria, and helped students understand the behavioral standards used as benchmarks. These findings confirm that BARS can be an effective alternative in a more equitable, transparent, and accountable attitude assessment system.
