Abstract

Efficiency and internal control are critical factors for the sustainability of retail businesses, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises. Gita Silver, a jewelry retailer, experiences operational inefficiencies caused by manual transaction recording, leading to pricing inaccuracies, inventory discrepancies, and increased risk of fraud. This study aims to analyze existing business processes and design a web-based sales and inventory information system integrated with an Internal Control System (ICS) based on the COSO framework. The research adopts the Prototyping method, consisting of iterative stages of communication, rapid planning, system modeling, construction, and implementation to ensure alignment with user requirements. The results of this study indicate that the proposed system is capable of automating transaction recording, providing real-time inventory monitoring, and implementing role-based access control to separate cashier and warehouse functions. System evaluation using Guerrilla Testing demonstrates improved data accuracy, enhanced operational transparency, reduced fraud risk, and more effective managerial decision-making through reliable reporting. It can be concluded that the designed system effectively supports operational efficiency and strengthens internal control within Gita Silver’s business processes.
